Vanarama National League side Maidenhead United enter the draw for the Fourth Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Monday afternoon along with the rest of the step 1 National League sides.

The Magpies, due to their status at the top of the non-league tree, are exempt until the Fourth Qualifying Round and will be joined in representing Berkshire by Hungerford Town of the National League South after the Crusaders negotiated ties with Truro City and Cirencester Town.

Maidenhead were involved in some of the earliest ever FA Cup fixtures – Maidenhead FC were one of the 15 original entrants to the very first FA Cup in season 1871/72 – but the clubs post-war record shows the Magpies have never gone past the First Round Proper, something undoubtedly a few United fans would love to see.

Last season, Cray Valley PM surprised the home side with a 3-2 win in the Fourth Qualifying Round while EFL sides Rotherham United, Portsmouth and Coventry City have been among the clubs the Magpies have faced in the first round in recent seasons.

That’s not to say the club haven’t had some success, with the 15/16 cup run a particular highlight that included the ‘pandemonium’ caused by James Mulley’s equaliser at Vale Park that brought Port Vale back to York Road for a replay.
