Maidenhead United Women players, officials and volunteers met in the Alan Devonshire Suite at York Road on Friday 28th May to toast the end of another unusual season.
Following the abandonment of the 2019/20 FA Women’s National League season, MUWFC only managed to play three league fixtures in 2020/21. Ultimately they did make their best ever start to life in the fourth tier of English women’s soccer with four points from those opening matches. The side was however able to complete three Women’s FA Cup ties, winning through to the First Round proper where they bowed out to Billericay Town.
Despite being unable to complete the season, the team held a Presentation Evening to hand out some very well deserved awards to members of Nevin Saroya’s hard-working and close-knit squad. The individual awards were handed out as follows:
Mindset Medal – Katie Thorne
Physical Training Medal – Kajal Malhotra
Analysts Medal – Natalie Barnes
Player’s Player – Megan Halfacree
Manager’s Player – Nicole Barrett
There was also a presentation to mark more than ten years of service to the club for Alex Dover, Amy Saunders and Tina Brett.
MUWFC are already recruiting for the 2021/22 season, looking for coaches, volunteers, sponsors and of course players to ‘Join The Team’. Details at https://bit.ly/3iaPOV5
