Windsor top Hellenic League Challenge Cup group

Free-scoring Windsor topped their Bluefin Sport Hellenic League cup group on goal difference from Virginia Water to progress to the knockout stages.

The Royalists won four, drew one and lost one of their six games in Group 4, scoring 18 times in the process in games against VW, Wokingham & Emmbrook and Holyport.

The biggest win came on Saturday, a 7-2 win at home to the Sumas as well as a 6-2 win at Holyport in mid-April.

Mark Cooper’s sides only defeat came at home to Virginia Water – a 1-0 defeat with Josh Dillon on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Billy Montague, Luke Paris and Keaton August lead the way for Cooper’s side scoring three each in the group stages.

Wokingham & Emmbrook’s two wins came against Virginia Water (2-1) and Holyport (3-0) while Ports solitary win was a 3-2 win over the Sumas.

Both Windsor and Virginia Water will continue in to the knockout stages while Group 5 sides Chalvey Sports and Langley will move in to the knockout rounds of the Supplementary Cup after they finished third and fourth behind Penn & Tylers Green and Holmer Green.

  • Windsor vs Penn & Tylers Green (8th May)
  • Holmer Green vs Virginia Water (8th May)

Supplementary Cup knockout round fixtures:

  • Wokingham & Emmbrook vs Langley (11th May)
  • Wallingford Town vs Chalvey Sports (8th May)
