It’s Tuesday night and Bracknell Town take on Vanarama National League South opposition in Havant & Waterlooville in the Second Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy (KO 7:30 pm).
Bracknell boss Bobby Wilkinson spoke to Football in Berkshire ahead of the clubs first ever match in the Second Round, saying it was going to be a hell of a challenge: “Havant & Waterlooville look strong, it’s going to be a hell of a challenge for us.”
“This is why I came to this club though, for these types of games, and why I signed these players. It’s history for the club, reaching the Second Round of the FA Trophy for the first time and it’s my first bit of history with the club.
“I’ve played Havant a few times with Wealdstone, I watched them last week against Slough Town and I’ve had videos to watch.”
Talking tactics and team news, Wilkinson revealed there would be one absentee: “We’re almost at full strength, no Mickel Platt though for us, he picked up a hamstring injury last week against Salisbury.
“All the players are giving me a selection headache, when they’ve come in, they’ve not given up the shirt and I’ve not had to make many changes so far.”
The Robins boss is eager to continue a superb home record as well: “It’s my one year anniversary at the club this week. We’re unbeaten at home and we’ve done it with a number of players I inherited.
“Havant have said they are going to make changes, in Paul Doswell they’ve got an experienced manager and he’s built a good side there. I think they’re going to come and attack us and they’ll be trying to hit a target man. I’m not sure what sort of formation they’ll look at as they’ve changed it a couple of times recently, so we’ll have to be ready for that.
“We will be up against it but we’ll have a good crowd and we’ve got a bloody good team ourselves! We need everyone here at the Lane backing us though.”
