Following the draw for the Extra Preliminary Round of the 2020/21 FA Cup it emerged there wouldn’t be any action within the Berkshire border when it all kicks off on Tuesday night.

At least that’s what we thought until Southern League Basingstoke Town revealed their clash with Sydenhams Wessex League Bournemouth FC would take place at Reading City’s Rivermoor stadium (ko 7:45pm).

The move has come about, as the club’s official website explains, because of a lack of suitable ground availability in and around the North Hampshire town: “With our inclusion in the earliest round of the FA Cup the previously hired ground at Winchester City FC was unavailable due to pitch renovations and with ongoing building works in the early stages of September – Winklebury is yet up to scratch.”

The Rivermoor has undergone a number of improvements over the summer including a relaid car park and outdoor bar area. Football in Berkshire paid a visit in July which you can read all about here.

Reading City themselves head in the opposite direction south to Hampshire to face Hamble Club while Ascot United head to Christchurch and Binfield to Westbury United.
