It’s a few hours to kick off across the county, there is plenty of league action as well as FA Cup Preliminary Round ties to enjoy.

That also means the team news is in with Ascot United manager Jamie Tompkins confirming that Harry Laflin will likely make his 50th appearance for the Yellamen at Raynes Park Vale in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Tompkins said he should have a squad nearly at full strength: “After a few days off many players have recovered from minor injuries so we head into Saturday’s fixture nearly at full strength.

“Only Samir Regragui and James Haworth are not available through injury and Harry Laflin will be making his 50th appearance for the club this weekend.”

Binfield have signed up their third goalkeeper of the season in Joe Williams who will likely replace the missing Sam Szymczyk in goal for the home fixture with Lymington Town.

Reading born Williams had been on a two-year apprenticeship with Scottish League side Ross County who he joined in 2017.

There will be some reshuffling from Herridge who said: “Will be missing Danny Horscroft, Eddie Lee Szymczyk from squad but Asa Povey returns along with Josh Helmore but Jack Thomson-Wheeler is away. Looking forward to the game against a very good side.”

Bracknell head to their game with Bournemouth without striker Shane Cooper-Clark who is still out with a bruised foot. Manager Sam Lock added: “Dan Brown has picked up a small knock as well. I am hopeful both will be okay to return on Monday.”

Reading City have arguably the toughest assignment of the Berkshire sides in the FA Cup on Saturday when they visit Southern League side Moneyfields but manager Simon Johnson believes his side can cause an upset. He said: “Aaron De Rama will return. Yashwa Romeo will also return as an outfield player after his minor injury. We have a large squad for precisely this reason and will go there looking to cause an upset!”

The First Qualifying Round draw for the FA Cup will take place at 1pm on Tuesday 27th August.

Hellenic League

In the Hellenic League Division One East, Chalvey Sports make the trip down the M4 to Abingdon Town. Manager Matty Young said: “Injuries and suspensions adding up rapidly – we were bare bones on Tuesday but on Saturday we will be even lighter. Missing another three which means drafting another player from the dev side and running with 14 for the trip to Abingdon.

“We will make two changes from our midweek starting eleven, Ben Wall coming in for Jack Lynch and a rotation of one of our strikers.”

Eversley & California host Bagshot on Saturday afternoon in Division One, manager Matthew Angell said: “The squad remains the same for the first week with Cameron Blackie still out with rib problems and Jordi Wilson struggling a little ankle problems.”

Better news for Sandhurst Town manager Michael Herbet who has captain Luke Burrows and Joe Barley are back in the squad after missing out last week.”
