It’s a great week to be a ground hopper, or just have a passing interest in non league football with games on all but one evening this week.
Up first on Monday night we have Binfield at home to Windsor at Hill Farm Lane and Reading City at home to newly promoted Burnham in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.
Binfield won on the road in Gloucestershire at the weekend in the season opener with manager Roger Herridge under no illusion as to how tough that game was.
Speaking to Football in Berkshire he said: “Was a great win against a side that will be right up there. Brimscombe & Thrupp were the better side overall but that said we could have scored a couple more with Eddie Lee having two or three opportunities. He deserved a goal too as he worked his socks off especially as alone striker for the last 25 minutes.”
Looking for the full midweek fixture list? It’s here.
In terms of team news, the Moles boss is expecting to have his latest signing available for the first time.
He said: “Jamie McClurg will come into squad after being unavailable Saturday. Likely to make changes to starting line up after the big shift put in by the players on Saturday.”
Further west Reading City also started on a high with Khalid Simmo impressing on the right wing as the came from a goal down to beat Shrivenham 3-1.
Ahead of the Monday night fixture though, manager Simon Johnson has two players to add to his squad and said: “Tom Browne returns to the squad and Fergus Burton is set to make his debut.”
