Friendlies with an international flavour – Kuwait are coming to Berkshire

The national team are preparing for the 2022 World Cup Qualifying campaign

Last season Berkshire was blessed with a full blown international football tournament as several fixtures in the CONIFA World Cup were played at Bracknell Town’s Larges Lane and Slough Town’s Arbour Park.

This summer’s international intrigue isn’t quite as eclectic as what was an excellent spectacle for those of us who got across to a couple of games, but it’s still provides something a little different for Berkshire non league supporters and ground hoppers.

The Kuwait national team are coming to town (or county) after both Maidenhead United and Marlow confirmed pre season friendlies against a side ranked 156 in the world.

The Magpies confirmed a Tuesday night friendly against the national side would take place on 16th July at York Road (our own Steve Gabb seeing a social media post on the fixture make a BBC top football tweets article) with a 7.30pm kick off while Marlow confirmed a Friday night fixture at Bisham Abbey on 12th July (ko 6pm).

A post on the Maidenhead website said the Kuwaiti national team was taking part in a UK training camp ahead of the second phase of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
