Reading FC have moved to confirm which of it’s age groups will represent the Royals in the 2018/19 Berks & Bucks County Senior Cup.
The clubs under 23s – who are managed by Scott Marshall – will be the side lining up against the likes of Maidenhead United, Slough Town, Bracknell Town and maybe even Reading City.
It will be the first time Berkshire’s highest ranked side will have entered the competition since 2002.
A release on the Reading website states: “Our Under-23s will be playing under the Reading FC name in this tournament, with League Two side MK Dons also having entered a squad among a host of local non-league teams in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
“Nearby Berkshire clubs such as Windsor, Maidenhead United, Slough Town, Binfield, Didcot Town, Hungerford Town and Ascot United are all involved in this year’s competition.”
The Royals website also highlighted that the club were the inaugural winners of the competition when it started in 1878.
The draw for the first round was made on Friday:
