The Southern Region Women’s Football League has confirmed one of the major outcomes from a Special General Meeting will be a merger of it’s North and South Division 1’s.
Clubs voted to merge the two divisions which ran with six teams each last season in to one to increase the number of league fixtures.
The change will affect Berkshire clubs Wokingham & Emmbrook Ladies, Barton Rovers and Wargrave who all play in the league.
Last season’s Northern Division 1 winners Woodley United – pictured above with the Northern Division trophy – will join Ascot United in the Premier Division which will run with 10 teams. Divison 1 will run with 11 teams as Southampton Women have been promoted to replace Milton Keynes City.

Division 1 in the SRWFL has been a bit of a sticking point the last few seasons for the league committee and clubs. Covering Buckinghamshire to the South Coast it made sense to split it, but the division has run as a combined one every season except the last since 2012.
In order to increase the number of games last season following several club withdrawals, the League introduced a separate Jubilee Cup.
