It’s been a tough season for Woodley United in their debut season in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

They ended the season in 19th position and only won six out of thirty-eight games. Despite this record Kestrel’s captain Idris Kamara picked up the division’s ‘player of the season award’.

The player of the season award is voted for by clubs, who after every game nominate a ‘man of the match’ from the other team. The player who is nominated most times by the opposition over a season wins the award. For the 2017/18 season this player was Idris Kamara.

Kamara played 44 times for Woodley United last season, 34 of them league games. He scored a solitary goal for the Kestrels this season, a late winner against Royal Wootton Bassett Town in a 3-2 victory where Woodley were 2-0 down at half-time.
