We understand that Woodley United first team manager Michael Herbert has stepped down as boss of the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side.

Herbert led Woodley to promotion to the Premier Division from Division 1 East in his first and only full season as manager of the Kestrels and lifted the Berks & Bucks County Intermediate Trophy after coming from behind against Marlow United at Larges Lane.

Along with Herbert, assistant Spencer Meredith has also stepped down with James Anderson staying on to lead the side for the remainder of the Premier Division season – since the publication of this article the Kestrels have released a full statement on the changes.

United started the season positively with two 0-0 draws against strong opposition in Flackwell Heath and Highmoor Ibis and have taken six points from their eight league games after winning promotion from Division 1 East – finishing level on points with champions Penn & Tylers Green but missing out on the title on goal difference.

Herbert’s final game in charge was a 1-0 defeat to Flackwell Heath at Scours Lane.
