How did our FA Cup opponents get on ahead of the Extra Preliminary Round ties

The 2017/18 FA Cup kicks off on Saturday afternoon as most of you will by now be aware – so we thought we’d see how our clubs Extra Preliminary opponents got on in their opening games of the season.

Firstly, here’s the weekends fixture list in full:

  • Amesbury Town v Eversley & California
  • Binfield v Chichester City
  • Bracknell Town v Cowes Sports (ko 2pm)
  • Highmoor Ibis v Buckingham Town
  • Ringwood Town v Ascot United
  • Windsor v Wembley
  • Woodley United v Tuffley Rovers

So lets do this club by club.

Amesbury Town – Lost 1-0 in the Wessex Premier to Blackfield & Langley and left this curious tweet..

Buckingham Town – No competitive game for the United Counties League Division 1 side and no real indication via website or social media as to their pre season campaign.

Chichester City – No competitive game for the Southern Combination Premier Division side before the FA Cup, the last fixture was a 4-2 defeat to Bostik League Hastings United on Tuesday with comedien Omid Djalili watching on.

Cowes Sports – Sports lost their opening Wessex Premier fixture 2-0 at last seasons third placed side Sholing and had Callum Chase sent off – though he should be available for Saturday.

Ringwood Town – The Wessex Division 1 side were beaten 5-3 at home on Tuesday night by Laverstock & Ford.

Tuffley Rovers – Came from behind to draw 1-1 with Fairford Town in their Hellenic Premier Division opener and saw this brilliant cross/shot goal:

Wembley – No competitive fixture for the Spartan South Midlands League side and it’s a similar position for opponents Windsor who haven’t played competitively prior to the Extra Preliminary Round.
