2017/18 FA Cup and FA Vase draws due this week

How it works and what you can expect from the draws

Friday promises to be a busy morning for the Football Association as they release the early round draws for it’s national competitions.

The FA Cup, Trophy, Vase and Youth Cup draws are all expected at midday on Friday and we’ll bring you the news of who will face who right here on FootballinBracknell.

Not all of the clubs covered on FiB will enter the national tournaments – last season saw the three of Ascot United, Binfield and Bracknell Town enter the FA Cup while they were joined by Eversley & California, Sandhurst Town and Woodley United in the FA Vase.

How it works

We’re a long way from the live draw on the BBC with celebrity guests. As far as we know the draw for the early round is completed with scraps of paper from a Tupperware tub (or more likely via computer). But here’s what you can expect on Friday.

For the FA Cup, the FA will draw the Extra Preliminary Round and Preliminary Rounds and release them simultaneously.

Similarly in the FA Vase, the First and Second Qualifying Round fixtures are expected simultaneously.

What else?

The draws for the competitions are regionalised meaning you can expect a terrific derby or two from the draw.

Last season saw Bracknell Town come from behind at Thatcham Town to win 3-2 in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round while the Robins and Binfield met in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Vase.
