FC Bracknell under 12s manager Carl Robberts contacted FootballinBracknell about Alex Bourne – who has just made the step up to join Reading Football Club’s academy.
Robberts says: Alex Bourne joined FC Bracknell in the summer of 2011 when he started playing for the under 7 Arrows and Bullets squads. The following year he became a permanent member of the under 8 Arrows.
Alex suffered a set back the following season after injuring his foot and so started the season with the Bullets squad – soon working his way back up to the Arrows.
To his credit, Alex started doing extra training at other private training soccer schools and was taking full advantage of his opportunities.
This is when it all started to fall into place for Alex with his pace, athleticism and footballing brain.
At the beginning of the 2015/2016 season I invited an official from Reading down to our preseason tournament to watch our boys and he subsequently asked Alex and a few boys from younger age groups to attend training at Reading’s dome on site at the Madejski Stadium.
For Alex the rest is history! He spent three to four months in the Shadow Squad before being signed permanently in December 2016.
A huge congratulations to Alex from the 2016/2017 FC Bracknell under 11 squad and coaches!
