AFC Aldermaston went out of the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Supplementary Cup on Saturday at the first round stage via a penalty shoot-out defeat to Abingdon United.
Kai Parton-Edey and Liam Tackley both scored to take the game to penalties in a 2-2 draw after extra time but the Atomics had goalkeeper Dan Smith to thank during the game for a superb diving save during the match.
The former Bracknell Town and Highmoor-IBIS goalkeepers save was caught on camera by Abingdon supporter Mark Herring:

After the match Smith – who managed a save in the shoot-out and score one himself for Aldermaston – tweeted his best wishes to the hosts, while Atomics boss Kieran Jennings praised his players efforts and called the match ‘an exciting game for the neutral’.

Disappointed to lose on pens but proud of our performance in what was a good advert for step 6 football. Exciting game for the neutral

Joe Cummuskey and Richard Jones were the other penalty scorers for the Atomics.
