Former Bracknell Town manager Keith Penicott-Bowen is back in senior football after being appointed first team coach of Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League runners-up Thatcham Town.

KPB will be joined at Waterside Park by former Maidenhead United and Slough Town striker Yashwa Romeo who as been appointed as assistant boss to co-managers Danny Robinson and Gareth Thomas.

The blues will be looking to go one better during 2016/17 after they were pipped to the post by champions Kidlington.

Familiar faces

As it stands, Penicott-Bowen will link up with fellow former Robin Shane Cooper-Clark who moved across Berkshire shortly after KPB was relieved of his duties at Larges Lane.

At Bracknell Keith led the Robins to their highest ever Hellenic League finish and arguably got the best out of a young squad, particularly Cooper-Clark who was voted the leagues player of the season after narrowly missing out on the divisions golden boot award.

Pennicott-Bowen was a player at Bracknell for much of the 1990s and was part of the side that reached the first round proper of the FA Cup in 2000, he went on to coach at Binfield before joining the coaching team under Ed Carpenter at the start of the 2014/15 season.

He was promoted to manager after Carpenter stepped down several months into the season and led Bracknell to a record 9th place and 56 point haul during his first season in charge.

Following a mixed bag of results at the start of the following season which included a tough run of fixtures, Pennicott-Bowen was replaced by Mark Tallentire despite leading the Robins to within a whisker of the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Delighted for Keith

At FootballinBracknell we are delighted Keith is back in senior men’s football. He is one of the nicest guys in local football (sorry Roger) and was always available to talk to and let us know how he felt post-match whether it was a good win or bad defeat. He had an excellent record of bringing youngsters through and trusting them in tough encounters – several are still benefiting his successor Mark Tallentire.
