Reading FC Women: A new era beckons with Emma Hopkins at the helm

Emma Hopkins and Reading U14's JPL Warriors Cup

Reading FC Women have announced that Emma Hopkins will steady the ship of Reading as she’s been appointed Head of Women’s Football at the club. The team will now play under the banner of the Community Trust in the Premier Division of the Southern Region Women’s Football League.

Emma is no stranger to the club having worked at the club for many years, most recently as their Emerging Talent Lead and coaching their U14’s squad to recent success after clinching the Junior Premier League Warriors Cup.

In the statement released by the club, Emma wrote an open letter to fans. She spoke of a new era at the club as they look to build on the decimation of the current squad and the pathway as we know it.

“We are focused on creating a nurturing environment that prioritizes growth, resilience, and determination. Our ambitions are high, and we are determined to make this comeback story one for the history books.”

There’s plenty still to come ahead of the season start of the opening weekend of September, with the club set to announce a new manager, a new squad, their pre-season calendar and their new home. Never mind a week in football being a long time, that’s lots to cram into a month!

We wish Emma every success in this new venture at the club. Read the full statement here.
