Following the news that Simon Bloch had stepped down after a month in charge, Sandhurst Town have moved quickly to appoint a new management team.

The Combined Counties League Premier Division South side will be lead by former Finchampstead and Woodley United midfield general Adam Barnard for the 2024/25 season.

A statement tweeted by the club said: “We are delighted to announce Adam Barnard as the new Sandhurst Town manager. Lee Barefoot and Carl Barrie also join us as Adam builds his management team for the coming season.”

Described as a ‘handy ginger b******’ by occasional team mate Harry Oakley, ‘Barney’ was a mainstay of the successful Finchampstead side of the 2010s and went on to captain both the Fizzers and Woodley.

Barnard had been First Team coach with CCL Premier Division North Burnham for the last few seasons but will now take up the challenge of leading the Fizzers.

Sandhurst travel to Wokingham Town (Emmbrook School) for a pre season friendly on Saturday.
