Stormzy’s boys head to Reading City for cup showdown

AFC Croydon Athletic are on the road to Reading City on Thursday for a Combined Counties League under 18s cup Quarter Final with the Cityzens.

The two sides occupy second and third spots in their respective under 18 East and West division’s and are playing off for a semi-final tie against Raynes Park Vale.

The non-league world was stunned in June 2023 when it was revealed the multi-award winning musician ‘Stormzy’ along with former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha and ex-Palace head of player care Danny Young teamed up to buy the club.

Competing in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South, the clubs youngster are odds on for the competitions under 18 East title with three games in hand over leaders Metropolitan Police.

City are also in with a shout of the West division title but are a point behind leaders Kingstonian who have a game in hand.

The prospective Tony Ford Youth Challenge Cup semi-finals look like this:

  • Corinthian Casuals OR Redhill vs Kingstonian OR Metropolitan Police
  • Rayners Lane vs Reading City OR AFC Croydon Athletic

Reading City under 18s vs AFC Croydon Athletic is on Thursday 21st March at The Rivermoor, kick-off 7:45pm

Entry to the ground is cash only – £4 Adults, £1 Under 16s.
