Maidenhead United striker Emile Acquah makes England C cut

Emile Acquah had been on the long list for an England cap, now the 16 man squad has been confirmed.

There’s a new Lion in town and his name is Emile Acquah after the Maidenhead United striker was named in the 16-man England C squad to face Wales.

Acquah was originally named in a ‘long list’ of seven forwards that has now been whittled down to three with Macauley Langstaff of Notts County and Sam Dalby of Wrexham also vying for a starting spot.

England C are due to face Wales at Altrincham on Tuesday night with tickets now available through the Altrincham FC ticket portal here.

Fellow Magpies Sam Barratt and Charlee Adams have all previously earned England C caps as well as the likes of like Sam Clucas, Andre Gray, Barry Hayles, Steve Guppy and Nick Crittenden.

The striker is now a permanent Maidenhead player but had previously had two loan spells in Berkshire from Southend United. This season he has 11 National League goals to his name including one on Tuesday night against Aldershot Town.

Acquah’s club side Maidenhead are due to face Maidstone United in the Vanarama National League on Saturday followed by Chesterfield at home on April 1st.
