Following the departure of Bobby Wilkinson, Southern League Premier Division South Bracknell Town have announced the clubs new manager.

Or rather, managerial duo, and it’s a couple of familiar faces in former midfielders Carl Withers and Jamie McClurg.

The pair have enjoyed a stellar start to the season with Binfield who are second in the Isthmian League South Central Division One and through to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup but will now take over at the Robins hot-seat with the challenge undoubtedly to reach the Vanarama National League South.

While a coup for the Robins, the appointment is certainly a blow for Binfield, who have appointed former boss Roger Herridge as caretaker manager.

Binfield chairman Andy Cotton said in a statement on the club website: “We shall miss Carl and Jamie and I want to express my thanks to them both and to the coaching team for all their hard work over the past couple of seasons. I wish them the very best.”

Despite being managerless for the last week, Bracknell’s progress continued with an FA Cup win of their own via a 3-0 replay win over Chesham United on Tuesday night. Withers and McClurg’s first game in charge will see Bracknell travel to Salisbury on Saturday. All the area’s fixtures are now available on the new FiB Fixtures & Results service here.
