Newbury Football Club has launched a new kit with two significant points of interest as the club begins a new adventure in the Uhlsport Hellenic League for 2021/22.
The West Berkshire club opted to switch from the Thames Valley Premier League in the summer to the Hellenic League Division Two setup where they were placed in the South Division alongside the likes of Kintbury Rangers, Faringdon Town and Letcombe.
Newbury currently play home games at Lambourn Football Ground having recently moved on from Henwick Worthy Sports ground where they competed following the closure of the club’s historic Faraday Road ground in Newbury.
The new kit, produced by Basingstoke based Serious Sport, is a striking orange shirt with black triangle detailing with JB Sales Limited sponsor across the middle.
On the back of the shirt, a nod to club stalwart Keith Moss whose initials can be seen in the shirt numbering.
A return to town could be on the cards for the club. Writing in the Newbury Weekly News in April, reporter Jonathan Ashby said: “West Berkshire Council and the rugby club have agreed terms on a deal to locate the ground at the Monks Lane site, and the proposals will be put to the council’s executive next Thursday for approval.
“If approved, a planning application will be submitted at the beginning of May, with the council hoping the ground can be opened in March 2022.”
Can you buy the shirt?
The short answer is no. But Serious Sport – more commonly known for producing cricket wear in North Hampshire – have revealed shirts could be available if there is strong interest. Leave them a message on social media @serious_sport or get in touch via the website.
