Newbury have appointed a new manager and assistant ahead of the new season which looks set to be in the Uhlsport Hellenic League.
The West Berkshire side confirmed that Rocky Rowbottom and Carl Jenner had decided to step down after guiding the club to a fifth-placed finish last season in the Thames Valley Premier League Premier Division.
A statement on the club website said: “The club would like to thank Rocky and Carl for their help during what was a very difficult season.
“With that in mind, Newbury FC officials are delighted to announce that Nicky Voller will take over First Team responsibilities and will have as his Assistant John Goddard both have vast experience with Football in the Newbury area.
“We all look forward to a successful season in the Hellenic League next season.”
That last little bit of news would suggest the club are headed to the Hellenic’s Division Two setup [we have requested confirmation of this] which is outside the National League System (NLS) of promotion and relegation.
Despite that, clubs have flocked to the Hellenic’s setup in recent seasons – if nothing else than for a change of scenery – and a look at the 2020/21 constitution of Division Two South has a very local flavour with Hungerford Town Swifts, Abingdon United Development and Wantage Town Development among the teams competing.
