Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One side Sandhurst Town will begin the search for a new manager ahead of the 2021/22 season after it was announced to Football in Berkshire that managerial duo Ian Selley and Ryan Northmore would be stepping down.

The pair took over in early September with the Fizzers rock-bottom of the table but quickly started to pick up results that saw them 15th of 20 at the curtailment of the season.

The statement, released by the duo said: “Ex-Arsenal Professional Ian Selley and Joint Manager, Ryan Northmore are stepping down as joint managers of Sandhurst Town Football Club with immediate effect due to the impact of COVID-19 on the Combined Counties League.”

“We have had a great time being part of Sandhurst Town.  We took the team from the bottom of the table to midway and before COVID hit, we had set our sights on automatic promotion when we came which was a big ask but was achievable with the squad we brought together,” explains Ian Selley, who together with Ryan Northmore, is currently seeking a new challenge for the forthcoming season.

“The effect that Covid has had on Sandhurst Town Football Club, means that everything has had to change in the short term. Both Ryan and I wish the Fizzers all the best for the future. It’s a great club and we will continue to support them from afar – We would like to say thank you to the players and club for supporting us.”
