Some good news for BetVictor Isthmian League South Central Division One side Bracknell Town with the news that goalkeeper Mark Scott is set to return to action.

Scott, in his second season at Larges Lane, has played 12 times for the Robins in a roller coaster of a season for the goalkeeper, has scored a 70 yard free kick in a 2-1 defeat to Westfield, been sent off in the clubs FA Trophy tie with Coggeshall Town and suffered a long term injury in October in a training session.

At the time of the injury, Scott feared he had broken his neck for a second time, an injury he initially sustained playing for Slough Town in 2017.

Speaking to the Bracknell News about this latest injury, which turned out to be a compressed nerve, he said: “”It was scary. I heard a crack and the pain was just as bad,” said the brave stopper, who still has screws and plates in his neck and spine from the initial injury.”

Now though, Scott has revealed on social media he is ready to return to action in a bit of a cryptic tweet.

New Bracknell Town boss Bobby Wilkinson has since revealed on twitter that his goalkeeper is due to return. He wrote: “I’m absolutely delighted to confirm that Mark Scott has been given the all clear to start training again. Mark is not only a key player on the pitch but a massive voice in the dressing room and I’m looking forward to having him back.”

Bracknell have used a number of goalkeepers this season, with goalkeeping coach and former Exeter City and Weymouth stopper Jason currently between the sticks.

The Robins have had a serious amount of bad luck with injuries and suspensions in goal this season, with James Holden, Sonny Wheeler, Dante Baptiste, Chris Rackley, James Hoskins and Joseph Whiter all donning the gloves this season.
