Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Reading City have released a statement following the resignation of manager Rob Creech on Wednesday morning.
The City boss confirmed on social media his resignation had been accepted.
The club statment reads: “Reading City Football Club would like to put on record it’s thanks to Rob Creech for the professionalism, dedication and loyalty that he showed whilst carrying out the role of First Team Manager, we are very sad to have accepted his resignation this morning.
“Rob was a massive asset to our club and was one that we were delighted to have secured at the beginning of this season.
“The Club have had to deal with some very difficult circumstances on the playing side in recent weeks due to the changes at Board level affecting the playing side of the club.
“It is the intention of the Club to try and get through this period of change, there has been a lot of development at the club during the past months and the Club intend to deliver its future plans for Non League Football in Reading.
“Whilst we review our position on the playing side we are pleased to confirm that Simon Johnson will take over the management of the First Team affairs, we will make a further statement after this review period.”
City’s next game is at home to Abingdon Town on Saturday in the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Supplementary Cup.
