The transformation is all but complete for the newly named Reading City FC after the club revealed their new crests for the 2018/19 season.
The club revealed last week that they had received approval to change the name of Highmoor Ibis to the more aspirational Reading City, retaining their place in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.
The club have already appointed former Bracknell Town Development Team managers Andy Findlay and Rob Creech and significant work has already been carried out at the clubs Scours Lane ground.
Speaking exclusively to Football in Bracknell recently, Findlay said on the improvements to the ground: “There were obvious problems last season with lighting, we have been assured this will be fixed, we are working closely with C&D Facilities & Grounds Maintenance, who took over looking after the pitch and have done a brilliant job, the top goalmouth is having a new soak away. We hope to also see renovation work on the car park.”
What’s on the Reading City crest
The crest is about as far away from Highmoor’s Brazil inspired logo. It takes three of the the town’s biggest icons – the Blade skyscraper, the newly reopened Reading Abbey and the famous Maiwand Lion that sits in Forbury Gardens.
The club will use the crest on the left for their first team shirts, the crest on the right is for the clubs junior teams and social media.
