The new season is about to get started and here at Football in Berkshire we’ve been busy preparing for our NINTH full season covering Berkshire football.

Before everything kicks off with the FA Cup on Friday night (full fixtures here) I wanted to try and layout how we’re going to cover things this season.

This coming season we’ll be aiming to produce early in the week, a West Berks, an East Berks and a Women’s Football round up from the weekend. We’ll also produce at least one unique newsletter a week (subscribe here) and all being well, one podcast interview (subscribe here).

Like most of our clubs, we have a talented team of volunteers here behind the scenes – but for almost all of us our circumstances have changed significantly in the last 12 months – so we’re just working out the best way to continue covering the game we love in the best way we can.

There will still be plenty during the week as and where stories happen, and of course all of that will remain free to access.

That’s not to say voluntary contributions or advertising enquiries aren’t welcome!

As I say we have a talented group behind the scenes, but we’re always looking for more people. At peak times of the season FiB can generate in excess of 50,000 readers a month, which is to say that as a platform covering a niche geographical part of the global game, is pretty good. So if you are keen on being part of that platform through writing, podcasting, video, social media or anything else you can think of – we aren’t a terrible place to start!

Finally, we’re delighted to have Dave ‘Wandering Tractor’ Read join our team as as ‘matchday food reviewer’ – he’s already submitted his first effort.

Have a great season, enjoy the ride, the ups and the downs are what makes it a brilliant game – and hopefully the FiB team will catch up with you at a game this season.
