Of course it’s all about those 90 minutes on the pitch at a football club, but the campaign off the pitch is just as important. None more so than for Media Executive, Chloe Streak, at Binfield as she keeps us up to date with all the goings on at Binfield on their journey to Wembley. We chatted to her ahead of Saturday’s game about switching her boots for a laptop and the pitch for a spot in the stand.
Have you always been a Moles supporter, if so tell us your earliest Binfield memory?
I remember visiting my grandparents house one day when I was around 6/7 years old and my Grandad came in from Football Training wearing a Binfield FC Jacket. Being local, I knew there was a club but I never knew I’d be in the position I am in today here at Binfield FC, all those years ago. Since that day, I’ve always been supporting the Moles.
We understand you’ve played football for the club too, tell us about your time at Binfield, what was a highlight for you?
So I joined the wildcat team here at Binfield FC when I was around 13/14 years old. To be completely honest, being a part of the Wildcat team was probably the best part of my “Footballing career”. Through Binfield, I was invited to a variety of different trials at Championship/Premier League clubs after being scouted from tournaments here during Summer, but nothing would beat the atmosphere in this girls team. I remember back in 2014/15, me and the girls attended our End of Season Awards at the Madejski Stadium and it was amazing. We won the league that season so that was definitely a highlight.
What’s been a standout moment for you at the club since becoming the Media Executive?
100% would have to be the FA Vase journey! Being with the lads since the start, and now seeing them at Wembley for the final? It’s been the best standout moment so far for me since being Media Executive. The lads have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today and it’s been incredible to watch from the sidelines.
You’re currently studying for a Sports Business and Broadcasting, right? How do you balance studying with your role at the club?
I’ve officially finished university for the year now so I’m pretty much spending every day at the club, especially with the final ahead of us. When in term time though, I’m back every weekend for the club. It gets me looking forward to the weekends, as it gets me away from uni stress aha!
What are your ambitions for the club’s media in the next year, 5 years?
Since I took over in August last year, the club’s social media analytics have been crazy! We’ve gone from 2,000 views a month on our socials to now nearly a million. For me, that’s the biggest achievement as the twitter account in-particular has had amazing success, especially during the FA Vase campaign. What’s my ambition for the club’s media in 5 years? I mean it’s been nearly 11 months and we’ve sky-rocketed on social media so it’s something I can’t really predict! A blue tick might be the new target for me.
Do you play football at uni too?
Of course! Me and my friends are always out playing football during the week, whether that be having a kick-about or watching our lads play on a Wednesday.
What’s been your favourite content to produce during the FA Vase campaign?
Oooo this is a hard one! I’d have to say, as random as it is, the tweet I wrote saying we was heading to Wembley for the final was probably my best bit of content. The interaction we got on that one tweet was unbelievable and it’s one we won’t forget as a club! Even doing the socials for our games within the competition, it’s always been a highlight.
Finally, how are you feeling about going to Wembley?!
I still can’t put into words how excited I am. Who can say at 20 years old that they’ve been Head Media Executive/Press Officer for their local childhood club at a Wembley Final? Honestly it’s been a dream, I can’t even describe it!
