‘It’s been a pleasure’ – Geoff Warner on leaving Bracknell Town

Bracknell Town Football Club confirmed the departure of Geoff Warner on Tuesday afternoon in a statement posted on the clubs twitter page.

The Robins boss said he was ‘gutted’ but that it had ‘been a pleasure’ leading the club in the Bostik League.

Warner had been in charge at Larges Lane since November and led the club to a runners up spot in the Bostik League South Central Division One, a league cup semi final and the play off final on Saturday.

Speaking to Football in Bracknell, the departing Warner said: “We’ve had a brilliant three years. We’ve finished runners up in each season and won four trophies.

“It’s been a pleasure working with the players, particularly the one’s who’ve been there through the last few seasons like Adam Cornell, Carl Davies, Dave Hancock and Chris Grace.

“We targeted the play offs at the start of this season and we achieved that with a good squad of players, albeit one’s who hadn’t had a lot of experience at step 4 aside from Matty Day and Mark Scott who we were able to bring in.”

Warner said he was very proud of what Bracknell Town had achieved over the three seasons he had been involved and added: “I’m gutted to be honest, I’ve had experience working at Premier League clubs, and working with some top players but Bracknell’s my home town club.”

A statement from the Larges Lane side said the club was looking to return to a more traditional managerial structure and would make no further comment until a replacement had been appointed.
