Binfield were held to a 1-1 draw in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League on Saturday as they look for a first league win in nine – but manager Roger Herridge was pleased to see his side put an end to what he described as a ‘terrible run’ – the Moles are now unbeaten in three games.
Herridge – who has re-signed James Suarez from Bracknell Town – sent us his thoughts post match.
The Binfield boss said: “Disappointed not to have got all three points this afternoon against a resilient Oxford City Nomads side.
“The first half lacked any real goal mouth action as both sides cancelled each other out but we started the second half brighter with Jonesy [Matt Jones] going close on two occasions . New signing Brad Pagliaroli came on and looked lively and it was he that created the opening for Grant Kemp to put us in front .
‘I felt we’d go on to win’
Grant Kemp scored what Herridge thought would be the winner in the second half saying: “I felt we would go on to win the game from here but despite getting in good areas and creating some good opportunities we didn’t get the second goal our build up play deserved .
“To their credit OCN had a right go at us the last 15 minutes, there goal coming when we got caught out by a long ball over the top and the striker finished with real quality.
“Overall we have to take the positives from the game and after a terrible run of form we are now unbeaten in our last three games .
“All three new signings did well today and with two or three other players set to return I have no doubt we will return to winning ways sooner rather than later.”
