At Football in Berkshire, we’re proud of what we’ve built since launching in 2016 and we want the site to continue to thrive and to keep both you our readers, and us the writers, photographers and podcasters engaged.
This year alone we’ve broken viewing records on the site with record numbers coming to read, listen and watch what we do, but there’s always a risk of becoming stagnant. The site is run by volunteers, everyone giving their time freely to bring you the best content we possibly can.
In order to continue that we’re announcing a few things in the next few weeks leading up to Christmas, but the ‘big one’ is a bit of a cultural and learning journey for us.
Every other month, starting in February 2023, we’ll be focussing specifically on a Berkshire town. It’s history, it’s footballing achievements and what next for the clubs and teams that inhabit it.
We’ll be talking to key people involved in that town’s teams, we’ll be asking you questions and we’ll be providing plenty of content to help us increase our own knowledge and contacts in the area.
We’ve set ourselves the task of covering five Berkshire towns in 2023. If all goes well it’ll continue into 2024 as a project and who knows, Christmas that year you might be able to read it all again in a book! We’ll see.
First up in terms of towns we’re planning on covering, then are:
- February 2023: Windsor
- April 2023: Newbury
- – Summer Break For Awards –
- August 2023: Slough
- October 2023: Thatcham
- December 2023: Reading
For each town, we’ll be looking at specific things like key players, the history of football in the area, honours, the grounds, iconic kits and badges, key moments and importantly, what the future holds.
While our team are going to be focused on certain bits of this, we’d be very much open to contributions from you, our readers. If you’d like to get involved, find out more about the project we’ve christened ‘Project Bark’, then drop us an email to tom.canning@footballinbracknell.co.uk
