FA Vase First Round Proper – Dates, draw and who’s in – all you need to know

The draw for the 2025/26 FA Vase First Round Proper is due on Tuesday after the weekend Second Qualifying Round fixtures are complete.

There are eight fixtures involving nine Berkshire sides during the Second Qualifying Round at the weekend, including 2018 winners Thatcham Town who will host Wessex League Avonmouth at Waterside Park.

The West Berkshire side returned to the Vase following relegation from Step 4 in the summer and beat Odd Down 2-0 in First Qualifying Round after seven seasons in the FA Trophy.

Draw for Berkshire sides in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round

  • Devizes Town 1-2 AFC Aldermaston
  • Berks County 5-2 Sandhurst Town
  • Lydney Town 3-2 Eversley & California
  • Langley 0-0 Desborough Town (Desborough win 4-3 on penalties)
  • Mendip Broadwalk 1-1 Reading City (Reading win 4-3 on penalties)
  • Thatcham Town 2-1 Avonmouth
  • Virginia Water 2-3 Kempston Rovers
  • Wokingham Town 1-1 Cinderford Town (Cinderford win 5-4 on pens)

Who’s in the FA Vase First Round Proper Round draw?

23 teams have been exempt from the first two rounds of the FA Vase after reaching the Third Round in 2024/25, but not progressing to the Fourth. There are a further 23 teams exempt until the Second Round including holders Whitstable Town.

Among the sides exempt to the First Round are Burnham, Tadley Calleva and Windsor & Eton.

The full list of 23 teams that will join the First Round are: Ashton Town, Burnham, Carlisle City, Clevedon Town, Downton,
Droitwich Spa, Great Yarmouth Town, Harpenden Town, Highworth Town, Melton Town, Newark Town, Northampton On Chenecks, Okehampton Argyle, South Liverpool, Spelthorne Sports, Tadley Calleva, Thetford Town, Tring Athletic, Tunbridge Wells, Wells City, Windsor & Eton, Winsford United, Wombwell Town.

As it stands and subject to results in the Second Qualifying Round, AFC Aldermaston, Berks County, Eversley & California, Langley, Reading City, Sandhurst Town, Thatcham Town, Virginia Water and Wokingham Town are all ‘in the hat’ for the FA Vase First Round draw.

When is the FA Vase First Round draw?

The FA has confirmed the FA Vase First Round Proper draw will be released on Tuesday 23rd September at 1pm.

When will First Round Proper matches be played, and what is the prize money on offer?

FA Vase First Round Proper matches are due to take place the weekend of Saturday 18th October 2025. Full details of round dates are here.

The prize money on offer for winners in the FA Vase First Round matches is £825 with the losing side receiving £250.
