The FA Vase Second Qualifying Round rolls into view over the weekend with no less than nine Berkshire sides aiming to reach the First Round Proper.
The competition has seen Thatcham Town – who return for the first time since winning it in 2018, Binfield and Ascot United all reach Wembley Stadium in the last few seasons.
Will one of the 2025/26 cohort follow that path?

Burnham can make up some ground
Burnham are the early leaders in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North this season but have a couple of games in hand over most of the sides at the top of the table.
The FA Vase weekend means the blues have an opportunity to open up a little daylight over the chasing pack when they visit Wallingford & Crowmarsh on Saturday. Windsor & Eton are probably their early challengers and like Burnham, are also in action at the weekend at Holyport.
Matthew Saunders first Southern League game
New Bracknell Town boss Matthew Saunders has now had a week with his players after the 2-0 FA Cup win over Tadley Calleva last weekend.
Bracknell are 20th in the Southern League Premier Division South after three matches but it would take a brave person to bet on the Robins staying there. Saunders first league match in charge though couldn’t have been less straightforward however with the visit of last season’s play-off semi-finalists Walton & Hersham.
While Joe Grant has celebrated 150 appearances for the club, the Robins have posted an extensive injury list to the clubs website that includes Seb Bowerman and Max Herbert.
The first ever FA Women’s National League Berkshire derby

Ascot United will make the short trip to Maidenhead United on Sunday in the first-ever FA Women’s National League Berkshire derby.
The Yellas were promoted in the summer to the highest level the club has played at, while Maidenhead have been ‘long serving’ FAWNL members.
One player relishing the fixture is right sided defender Katie Vince, who made the switch from Ascot to Maidenhead in the summer having played for the Yellas since she was 11.
“I’m expecting a BIG game. It’s going to be physical, it’s going to be loud, it’s going to be exciting. I’m looking forward to a high intensity game and the support of the local crowd coming down to support their sides,” said Vince via the Magpies official website.
Normally a right-back, Vince has played in the centre of defence for Dave Kitson’s side this season and is well aware of the stature of the weekends game: “This game is massive for the community of young girls around Berkshire wanting to play football and I want to give the crowd a good game and to inspire. We want to showcase what Maidenhead are all about and how much heart we have as a club. I’m so excited for this game.”
Woodley United boosted by Chengun
The Combined Counties League Division One is not to be trifled with. The Division chews clubs up and spits them out over 44 league games. It is a marathon and very much not a sprint.
Woodley United’s quick start to the season remains impressive against last seasons efforts which saw the Kestrels escape the relegation zone for the first time on the final day of the season.
The Kestrels are 6th after nine games and yet to taste defeat in league football and manager Jordan Blake has added midfielder Noah Chengun after a season out of the game.
The Kestrels face a trip to Colliers Wood United on Saturday (3pm)
