Berkshire will have representation at the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims in March.
Binfield defender Reese Jones and midfielder Aunde Todd of Sandhurst Town have both been selected for the double-header play-off against Honduras later this month.
The Bermuda squad is full of players from non-league clubs in the UK including Chelmsford City, Quorn and Redditch as well as a host of players from the US college system.
Bermuda are underdogs going into the tie – ranked 12th of 14 in the seven play-off ties which also include Costa Rica and Jamaica. The winners over two legs will go on to play in in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup hosted in the USA and Canada.
Bermuda will play Honduras on Friday, March 21, in Bermuda with the return leg on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in Honduras.
Speaking via the Bermudan FA website, Head Coach Michael Findlay commented, “Our qualification to the 2025 Gold Cup Play-Off matches in March is obviously something we should celebrate as we are one of fourteen teams out of forty-one Concacaf nations participating. It is also a reflection on our program and the performance of our players throughout the 2024 Nations League matches and is obvious sign of growth. This success also comes with a price and a huge challenge for us on many levels but the reward for success is qualification to the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup and this would be monumental for Bermuda and Bermudian football overall. I know the players and staff are excited about this challenge and are looking forward to once again testing themselves against the 7th ranked team in Concacaf. This is why we play football at the end of the day, to compete at the highest level possible and provide our fans an opportunity to support their team a dream of a trip to the 2025 Gold Cup.”
