Burnham v Cobham – Isuzu FA Vase Second Round on 9th November 2024
Over the past couple of years wandering around local and not-so-local non-league grounds, some I tend to get drawn to again and again. The 1878 Stadium at Burnham is one of those. I’ve been there for Burnham, Wycombe and Maidenhead United Women’s matches and cup finals, and you always receive the same excellent hospitality. This visit was no different and despite not being a stranger to their varied menu, I still managed to find something I hadn’t tried before. My usual choice is the jumbo hot dog with fried onions which is always excellent, but this time I plumped for the chicken nuggets and chips.

The food is all freshly cooked to order and my choice came in at a very reasonable £5. The nuggets were extremely good, none of the flat McDonalds type here, these are large chunks of chicken breast in batter and come with a decent portion of chips. Very nice indeed!

A little later I thought I’d have another staple choice of visits past, their quarter pound cheeseburger with fried onions, served in a brioche bun. This too was very good and coming in at £4.50, again a decent price. With a great selection on offer including bacon rolls, burgers, the aforementioned nuggets and hot dogs, chips, and more, one thing is for sure, you won’t have any excuse to be hungry if you visit the 1878 Stadium!
