Berkshire’s own Sam Barratt recently made a milestone 100th start for National Leaguers Maidenhead United.

Winger Sam bought up his landmark for the Magpies in their recent thrilling 4-3 York Road defeat against Notts County. Barratt joined United from Bracknell Town where he was a prolific scorer in the Hellenic League with the Robins and made his Maidenhead debut under Johnson Hippolyte in a Berks & Bucks Senior Cup tie at Hungerford Town on 18th November 2014, scoring the first two of his 41 goals in black-and-white as the Magpies beat the Crusaders on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw.

One of just five players retained by Alan Devonshire when he returned to York Road in the summer of 2015, Barratt was part of the National League South title-winning squad of 2016/17.

He had the misfortune of suffering a long-term injury when he earned a deserved move to EFL-side Southend United in the summer of 2018.

Returning to York Road in 2020, Sam has been named as an impact substitute on a further 130 occasions for Maidenhead and had scored two National League hat-tricks against Solihull Moors and Hartlepool United.
