It was a breakthrough year for Dan Roberts in 2018/19 as a young player with huge potential at Bracknell Town became a star for Windsor in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division this season.

That Roberts performances caught the eye of Vanarama National League South side Slough Town was just the icing on the cake for a player that was playing Suburban League and step 7 football in 2017/18.

Roberts went on to score 39 goals in 45 appearances for the Royalists, earning the golden boot by just the 31 goals in a side that included Premier League veteran Barry Hayles.

The season just gone certainly wasn’t Dan Roberts first in senior football at step 5 having been on the fringes at Bracknell, but it was his most important and were it not for the step up to Slough, he would almost certainly have finished Hellenic Premier Division top scorer. As it was he finished second in that race. Not bad!

On being nominated for an EPC Bracknell Football Award in the category of Player of the Season, some of the posts we’ve received are:

“The stats and match reports speak for themselves! Has had a fantastic first full season in senior football. He has scored over 30 goals for Windsor, been instrumental in them reaching the last 16 of the FA Vase and has made his debut for Slough Town in the Vanarama National League. He has generated a lot of interest and deserves recognition for an outstanding season.”

Another said: “He has been instrumental in performances this season scoring on many occasions. We know from Windsor supporters how much they admire and appreciate him. Recently he has dual registered for Slough Town and was voted Supporters Player of the Match in his first game. I don’t believe there has been a young player who has had such a huge impact in their club as Dan this season and for that reason I am nominating him as Player of the Season.”

And another: “Scoring 30+ goals and being injured for a month plus of the season! Incredible.”
