It wasn’t a happy return to Hellenic League Premier Division action on Monday night for Reading City as they were beaten 4-1 by Ardley United at Scours Lane.
The blues hadn’t played in a fortnight and went in to the game aware of the Ardley danger – the Oxfordshire side had previously been the only side to beat them in the league this season.
Billy Gillett opened the scoring early on for the visitors and Greg Hackett made it 2-0 before half time on his way to a hat trick in the second half.
There was a late consolation for Reading who saw Joe Grant equalise after Harry Grant’s free kick was spilled.
There are plenty of matches on Tuesday night including Ascot United and Wokingham & Emmbrook both at home. The preview is here.
