Hellenic League Division 1 East side Sandhurst Town’s search for a new manager is over.

The Fizzers have appointed former Woodley United and Bracknell Football Award winner Michael Herbert as the new boss.

Herbert led Woodley to promotion to the Hellenic League Premier Division last season and links up with former player Charlie Oakley at Bottom Meadow.

Expectations

The appointment will undoubtedly increase expectations of promotion on the Fizzers who finished fourth this season under Luke Turkington who was recently appointed at Farnham Town.

A statement on the Fizzers twitter page says: “Sandhurst Town FC have concluded their search, and are subsequently pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Herbert as our new 1st team manager.

“Most recently, Michael impressively led Woodley United FC to promotion to the Hellenic Premier Division whilst also securing the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup in his first season. Prior to this, Michael also enjoyed a successful stint with Mortimer FC as Manager. He is a UEFA B qualified coach, and enjoyed an impressive career as a player before turning his attentions to management.

“The club is seeking to build on the steady progression over the past 2 seasons, and the committee believe Michael not only has the track record, but also shares our ambition for success ahead of the 2018/19 season and beyond.

“We hope our supporters are as excited about this appointment as we are, and wish Michael every success going forward.”
