Pinewood FC’s Dean Allen has been nominated for a Bracknell Football Award by members of the junior club in recognition of his hard work and dedication – particularly with the under 7 age group.

We’ve received five nominations for Dean in the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award category with the ex-Army Personal Training instructor proving a big hit at the club which has been running since 1984 on the outskirts of Crowthorne by the old Transport Research Laboratory site.

One of the submissions simply reads: “Dean works tirelessly with the kids, devotes loads of hours, ALWAYS has a lovely temperament and ultimately looks out for the kids and their betterment.”

‘He really gets the best out of them and makes sure they enjoy themselves’

One lengthy missive reads: “As with all managers, coaches and helpers at local youth clubs Dean volunteers his time.

“What differentiates him from the others in my opinion is his level of dedication. Dean manages the whole under 7s age group – is always at training early and staying late to ensure that everything is prepared and that the kids have a great time and really enjoy themselves while learning the beautiful game.

“He stays late to make sure everything is packed up in an orderly fashion as you’d expect from an ex-army PT instructor.

“On top of all of this, we parents receive regular emails at all times of the day and night, about tournaments he has entered us in to, extra curricular activities, awards nights and other club functions so he is doing all he can to not only help the kids but to promote the club as a whole.

“Most importantly, Dean is a great person – very enthusiastic and engaging with the kids, who all love him to pieces. He really gets the best out of them and makes sure they enjoy themselves. He is also very sociable and gets on well with all the parents, managing to get us all to help out at the club in some way. Top bloke, deserves some recognition!”
