Richard Thomas isn’t a name Bracknell Town fans will be familiar with, but he is the man tasked with keeping Thame United at bay on Saturday afternoon AND Bracknell Town’s title hopes alive in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division.
Richard could be the hero you didn’t know you had.
As you will no doubt be aware, Thame are two points clear of Bracknell with two games each to play in the race for the title – and only dropped points by the leaders will give the Robins a chance of the title with Thame’s visit to Lydney on Saturday the best chance for that to happen.

Thankfully, he was in superb form against Brimscombe & Thrupp on Tuesday night in the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Cup Quarter Final – albeit on the losing side of a 2-1 defeat.
Still, he pulled off some terrific saves as captured in the tweets below by @spandau_wirral to give every Bracknell fan hope of a miracle on Saturday..

And he did it again a few minutes later..

In a further boost for Bracknell fans, our man on the inside said: “The pitch will be tricky at the Rec, but we should have a few players back to strengthen the squad”.
Thomas vs Bracknell
Back in January Thomas was in great form for Lydney at Larges Lane in spite of a 3-0 defeat and ‘that’ audacious lob from John Gray and stands behind the defence with the sixth best goals conceded at home record in the division – only Thame, Bracknell, Flackwell Heath, Binfield and Tuffley Rovers have conceded less on their own patch.
Whichever way the title turns out, the winners will have thoroughly deserved it after a season of seriously hard graft.
And if you want to drop Lydney a message of encouragement you can do so on their twitter page here – make sure you include the hashtag #comeonrichard.
