Bracknell Sunday League: Morale Madrid in first defeat, Warfield United’s unlikely win and Jai McDonald

Back to league action in the Bracknell Town & District Sunday League with a first defeat for Morale Madrid, while Warfield United suffer the classic Sunday League issue of losing players on the morning of the game – and still winning.

We’ve pulled out the highlights for your reading pleasure – if you have any pictures or video from the weekend, or would like to send us a report from your game please visit our contribute page or ‘@’ us on twitter @fibracknell. Big scores

9 is this weeks magic number!

Lot’s of eight goal matches on Sunday, but Bearwood Wanderers 5-4 win over FC Harmans Water in Division 3 takes the ‘big score’ title this week.

The win puts Bearwood back on a postitive run after their seven match winning streak was ended by Woodley United Reserves a fortnight ago.

Top of the league

Bracknell Cavaliers retained top spot in the Premier Division thanks to a 5-2 win at Binfield Club Athletic while Golden Farmer Ranger bounced back from their heavy defeat to FC Fernhill last weekend with a creditable 2-2 draw against FC Meta.

Intercity FC’s 6-2 win over Ashridge Park has given them the advantage in Division 1 – putting them a point above previous leaders Crowthorne Inn, although it’s Finchampstread Athletic Sunday Reserves who top the table – albeit having played four more games – after their 2-2 draw with Bracknell Forest.

Clean sheets

A rarity in Sunday League so we celebrate the six from the weekend..

Finchampstead Athletic Sunday inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Morale Madrid, beating them 1-0 in the Premier Division while Bracknell Celtic beat Braybrooke Athletic 6-0.

No clean sheets in Division 1, but Bracknell Athletic’s 8-0 win over Winnersh Town included a ‘worldy’ from Jai McDonald which you can watch over and over here:

In Division 3 there were two clean sheets as AFC Crowthorne Reserves beat Crown Wood Dukes 4-0 and Bracknell Titans beat Bracknell Royals 3-0 thanks to goals from Sean Watson (2) and Marlon Ghai.

And finally..

A typical morning of Sunday League for Warfield United who were a bit short of players – assuming the old ‘mind games’ haven’t reached the 2nd Division of the Bracknell League.

United’s Alex Mellor got the only goal of the game as Warfield beat second placed WAB 1-0 and they were understandably delighted – something that seems to have ruffled a feather or two.

It could be an interesting Junior Cup Final if both sides win their semi’s!
