Matches between Bracknell Town and Binfield always generate plenty of interest with tomorrow night’s first meeting of the season at Hill Farm Lane no exception.

Since the sides started meeting regularly from 2010-11 season onwards, it is true that the Moles have the upper hand and the most emphatic victories but perhaps the most famous victory – in the FA Cup – belongs to the Robins.

Monday 13th December 2010 was a particularly dark day for us as Binfield thrashed us 8-0 on a frozen and cold evening. 138 people witnessed the massacre with the home side getting and scoring an incredible four penalties.
Though nowhere near as emphatic but just as important, Bracknell gained a measure of revenge in March 2011 as James Rogers’ solitary penalty was enough to separate the sides.
The following season was a nightmare for us as we finished bottom of the table ultimately getting relegated. There was a double victory for the Moles as they ran out 4-1 winners at Larges Lane though the match was closer than the score line suggested. New Year’s Eve saw the return match at Hill Farm Lane with the 5-0 result fully doing Binfield justice that day.
Following our relegation it looked like there would be no match up in 2012-13 but fate as other ideas as the FA Cup with Budweiser draw paired us together in the Extra Preliminary Round. A bumper 375 crowd were witnessed to an even and entertaining match at Larges Lane as Tom Barratt and Sam Barratt scored to send us through to the next round as 2-1 winners.
Last season there were three encounters with Binfield winning 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup. Boxing Day saw the Moles run out 2-0 winners at Larges Lane with the Easter Monday return match ending in a 2-2 draw which Bracknell probably should have won. It was certainly the best we have played at Hill Farm Lane.
So, plenty of drama, excitement and goals between the two rivals and let’s hope tonights match is a right cracker.
The encounters during the past four seasons have seen crowds totalling 1634 witness the matches at an average of 204.25 per match. I know both sides are hoping tomorrow night sees a bumper attendance once again.
