Sam Barratt scored the first of Maidenhead United’s two equalisers in a 2-2 Buildbase FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round draw with Vanarama National League South rivals Wealdstone.
Barratt started the match for Alan Devonshire’s side and repaid the faith with a rare headed goal on 36 minutes, equalising the Stones 31st minute opener before Harry Pritchard equalised again in the 81st minute.
The former Bracknell Town winger was recently interviewed by the Berks & Bucks County FA site and said ‘I want nothing more than to be a pro footballer’ – and here Barratt showed why a number of Football League clubs have been taking a look at the youngster.
The goal wasn’t one of Sam’s more spectacular efforts but showed his willingness to get in good positions and make a difference to his team, something fans at Larges Lane will be all to aware of.
