Brooke Chaplen out ‘indefinitely’ say Reading FC Women

Long-serving Reading FC Women attacker Brooke Chaplen is set to be out ‘indefinitely’ the club has revealed in a statement.

Chaplen, Reading’s top-scorer in 2017, her debut year with the Royals will undergo surgery after scan results revealed a bone tumour in her right leg. A post on the club’s website said: “Brooke will undergo surgery to have the tumour removed and then begin an extended period of rehabilitation.”

The 32-year-old will be out for the rest of the season.

Portsmouth-born Chaplen began her career with her home city club and has also played for Chelsea, Everton and Sunderland. She has been capped at England under 19, 20 and 23 level. She has played almost 100 times for Reading since joining in 2017 scoring 34 goals in all competitions.
