Long-serving Ascot United defender Louis Bouwers has switched FA Vase-winning clubs following his departure from the Yellas.
The centre-back was confirmed as joining Chertsey Town over the weekend after departing the Racecourse Ground.
Bouwers, who was club captain at Ascot and lifted the FA Vase in May at Wembley, leaves after over six years and 207 appearances.
A statement from Ascot on their former captain’s departure said: “Louis has played a vital role in the success of the club with a Hellenic League Cup, Combined Counties Premier Division North title and most recently the FA Vase trophy to his name, all whilst taking the role of club captain in his stride. Louis is a model example of a leader both on and off the pitch and we are forever grateful for his service at the club.”
As for his new side, Chertsey will face Ascot in the Isthmian League in the coming season, a division that now has four former FA Vase finalists including three winners with Thatcham Town completing that trio.
