A busy day for Slough Town as the Vanarama National League side signed up six players with some re-signs and several ‘new boys’.
Among those fresh faces at Arbour Park were goalscorer Elliot Benyon from Oxford City and Johnny Goddard from St Albans City while George Wells and Aaron Kuhl were both confirmed as returning to the Rebels.
Benyon is an eye-catching signing on his own. Now 34 but with a wealth of Football League and goalscoring experience behind him along with bags of goals for the likes of Southend United, Torquay United and Swindon Town.
Sandhurst-born Goddard is a winger with some experience himself having also played for Swindon as well as Stevenage and England C. He played over 30 games for St Albans before making the Slough switch.
Elsewhere, there were a couple of surprises thrown in as Guy Hollis renewed acquaintances with the club after a short spell away and a u-turn on striker Ben Harris was announced with managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood saying: “For us as managers Ben’s ability has never been in doubt and he is a popular member of the dressing room, but our original decision was based on his fitness issues. Ben has worked tirelessly over the summer to get in really good condition, and we feel that a fit Ben Harris will be a real asset to us and we have reached agreement on a deal for him to remain a Rebel.”
