With the departure of central midfield trio Jess Fishlock, Angharad James and Fara Williams at the end of last season Reading Women find themselves with huge boots to fill.
Kelly Chambers has started this process with the signing of former Birmingham, Brighton and Tottenham central-midfielder Chloe Peplow.
Despite being only twenty-two years old Peplow has a great deal of experience at FA WSL level having made her debut as a 16-year-old for Birmingham City. She has made over thirty appearances for England youth age groups from U17 to U21s.
The signing of Peplow is a little bit of a departure from Reading’s usual signings with vastly experienced players like Jess Fishlock and Fara Williams anchoring the midfield.
Peplow is currently the only central midfielder on Reading’s books so we’d expect Chambers to move to sign another one or two in this position before the season begins in September.
